The VME64x bus of the VME64x crate represents an extension of the VME64. The major contribution is the extension of the 5-row 160-pin P1 / J1 and P2 / J2 connectors and additional 95-pin P0 / J0 connectors in order to increase the number of user-defined inputs and outputs. The bandwidth has been increased to 160 Mb / s. In addition to the + 5 V and +/- 12 V power supplies of the VME64, the VME64x defines additional power supplies such as the + 3.3 V and the + 48 V version. The insertion in “ live ” modules via insert / eject latches has been defined as well as the IEEE 1101.10 standard are both contributing to better electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and better tolerance to electrostatic discharge (ESD) via contact clips.
The W-IE-NE-R VME64x frames meet multiple needs. Some will suit small lab facilities with powers that do not exceed 1 kW. Others will be more in line with large experimental structures requiring the insertion of a large number of modules and consequently very high powers. Regardless of these criteria, our VME64x frames have modern control and command means that allow you to supervise the smooth running of your operations, either locally by means of digital reading, or remotely through various interfaces.
Mini chassis VME64x intégré série 195-x
The VME64x 195-x series mini crate is the ideal choice for small laboratory setups that require only few electronic modules. Its design is based on a long W-IE-NE-R tradition by offering a fully integrated solution which comprises both a robust bin that is complete with a very high frequency switching power supply and an intelligent fan unit which offers all the control interfaces. The 195-x model has 9 slots in 19 ” rack format with a power of 600 W.
VME64x modular mini crate, 395-x series
The mini VME64x 395-x crate is a recent evolution of the 195-x model which offers modularity of the elements. This VME64x crate is offered with cPCI power supplies that can be inserted / reinserted hot (hot swappable) and which can be added to double the power from 250 W to 500 W. The fan unit is plugged in from the front, with air extraction from front to back. In addition to local mode supervision, the power supplies and the cooling unit are controlled and monitored remotely via our new universal controller card CML shelf Manager.
VME64x crate, NIX-I series
The VME64x NIX-Ix crate is one of the popular 21 slot models in the W-IE-NE-R range. It is based on the so-called 6000 switch-mode power supply technology which consists of an architecture based on PFCs and DC buses supplying MEH, MDH and MDL elementary blocks, which are used for the distribution of voltages + 5 VDC, +/- 12 VDC and + 3.3 VDC with a maximum power of 700 W. This crate is equipped with a removable 1U fan tray equipped with 3 fans for the front cards (no rear 6U transition card possible). The NIX-I is an economical version, without means of supervision in local mode, only a CANbus interface can be installed as an option.
VME64x crates, 3200-x series
The VME64x 3200-x crate has a bin similar to that of the NIX-I, but it offers the modular concept of the 395-x. It is offered with cPCI / 6U power supply units that can be hot insert / reinserted (hot swappable) and parallelized to double the power from 500 W to 1000 W. These blocks have a footprint of 2 slots and they are place in slots (0,1) and (20,21). If we add one additional slot for the CML shelf Manager universal controller card, 16 slots remain free on the crate. The ventilation unit is plugged in from the front, with air extraction from below to the top. Some versions offer fan trays that cover the front boards only with 3 fans, and other versions cover the full bin depth with 6 fans for rear board cooling.
VME64x standard crates, 6021 & 6023 for 6U boards
The VME64x 21 slot crate of the 6021 and 6023 series are the most popular models from the manufacturer W-IE-NE-R. The concept of modularity, based on the assembly of the bin, the fan tray and the power supply, gives a unique flexibility.
The mechanical bin allows the insertion of 6U cards at the front, and, via the rear transition cage, additional “ user defined ” cards in 3U (bin UEV 6021) or 6U (bin UEV 6023) with a depth of either 80/120/160 and 220 mm.
The fan tray allows uniform ventilation with a standard block of 3 fans for the front or a block of 6 fans covering the entire depth of the frame. The fan tray is always equipped with RS232, Ethernet and CANbus interfaces allowing the control of powers, voltages, currents, as well as temperatures.
The well-known architecture of the 6000 series power supply, built with a PFC, a DC bus and DC / DC blocks, can meet a large number of voltage and current configurations, with a choice of power ranging from 1500 W to 3700 W.
Numerous options complete this flexibility: a 1U ” plenum ” air compression chamber, temperature sensors at different points of the crate, a dust filter, insertion / extraction levers for the power supply.
